I've seen this place for soooo long but the outside aesthetic never caught my attention for the 25 years I've lived in Houston. Recently I looked at yelp and the food seemed delicious, I'm going to add it to the list and check it out
Christie's is a Houston institution. First time eating here and it's clear to me why they've been open for over 105 years. The restaurant itself is a no fuss, casual atmosphere. The service we received was attentive and friendly. And now for the real start of the show - the food. 98% of what we ordered was highly delicious. The two misses of the night were the Oysters Rockefeller and the fried shrimp. On the other hand, the crawfish bisque, the fried calamari, and the original sandwich were all big hits. I found every bite of food to be quite flavorful and unlike many other reviews, I did not the salt to be lacking. If you've never been to Christie's, I highly suggest a visit!
We had my mom's 90th birthday party here a few weeks ago & it was so amazing!! My sister booked it so she communicated with them on that. My cousin & I called separate for details & they were very nice & helpful. We used the private banquet room. Pedro & Hannah were our servers & they were excellent!! Very attuned & helpful. The food was excellent & so was the champagne!! If you are looking for an event space with excellent service, food, & facilities- this is your place! Great for birthdays, Christmas, office parties, etc. Would definitely use them again!!
I was there last night and I have to wait to be seated although I see empty tables inside the bar,I dont understand why I have to wait ,I could have gone there instead? not the dining room? Anyway, salad and bread is just average, but the entree I ordered is good, portion is big compared to most restaurants,I just wonder how do other diners manage to polish away appetizer, drink, main course, desert when the portion is HUGE? This is my second visit, last one was long ago when I ordered lobster ,now they have removed lobster on their menu, which is fine as it is frozen not fresh lobster. I will go back when I feel like eating a large meal.
Being that Christie's has been a Houston institution since 1917 we decided we had to make a stop during our recent trip. We arrived in the evening without a reservation to ample seating and no wait. The atmosphere is warm and homely as expected from a place with so much history. I ordered the 10oz sirloin and my wife chose the Fish platter. We were served warm bread and butter after our drink order, and shortly thereafter our Caesar salads arrived. The food and portions were great, price's were amazing for such a storied place. Our server Cesar was very attentive and checked up on us multiple times. Overall we had a very pleasant experience and would recommend Christie's to anyone visiting the Houston area.
A long time standing restaurant in the Houston area. if I remember the story correctly, this is the third generation now running the restaurant. It got decent parking on the side in the back. The food is delicious. I feel like well price for what you get not spectacular. That's why I'm gonna get them an above average score of four stars five stars that I would say that it's like one of the better restaurants around Houston. I do find the selection to be Good and I like the place I plan on going back. They have a nice conference room that week that we've used as a networking event over the lunch hour the staff are extremely friendly and courteous. The inside is a little dated cause it's been around again for over three generations I think 50 to 70 years or something like that in the Houston area so we could definitely use a nice upgrade and appearance but not old just feeling Ultimately would recommend food was freshly made seafood taste. Fresh flavors are tasty and I look forward to going back.
I've been going here since I was a child, because my mother and grandmother were from Corpus and love great seafood. This spot really blows every other seafood restaurant I have been to out of the water, pun intended! I live in Austin and insist upon a visit every time I see my mom in Rosenberg. The staff is sweet and attentive too! The owner made a point to thank my mom for her loyal business when I was last there, so sweet! If you haven't been, be sure to order the fried shrimp platter, and you'll be a loyal customer too! I didn't get a photo at the restaurant of my dish because I was too excited to eat, but I've always loved this beautiful mural and swordfish buddy!
We picked up some orders for my dad's belated birthday celebration. My dad and I both loved our favorite dish here being the Stuffed Snapper. I also love the Broiled Oysters, Stuffed Shrimp and Blackened Trout a lot. My mom never eats shrimp, except from Christie's and the coconut fried shrimp all the way from Duke's in Maui, HI. That's it ! The Fried Shrimp is her favorite menu item as well as the Stuffed Snapper me and my old man got. Also, very delicious, crunchy, meaty in texture, very mildly sweet and not too greasy. The fish dish and its sides were very delicious, good quality, contrasting, moist and held some density. The mild fish with the savory, well-seasoned, crusty crab stuffing was epic as usual. The onions, bell peppers and whatever else is in it was so nicely blended and exciting. The spinach was very good with flavor and leafy as it should be. The rice was doughy, brown and fresh holding a very mild spice. Great, friendly service either dine-in or takeout every time as well. This over-a-century old seafood establishment is still going very strong.
Went with family after a family function with the grandparents on a Friday night. We got there late 8:15 and they close at 9. The staff was super welcoming, even though it was towards the end of their night. Service was amazing. I felt like I was at a high-end steakhouse. they had frozen margaritas on the menu and I was really feeling for one even though we were at a seafood place and I'm glad I ordered it. it was a really really good house. Margarita I enjoyed it. I had the fried seafood platter and it hit the spot. They make their dressings in house. Love the bread service with the hot rolls and whipped butter. My son got the BLT Oyster Po Boy it was delicious because I had some and he probably doesn't need to eat for the next 24 hours. The interior is old school but very clean and nice . this place has been here since 1917 so it is old school that's the point. Westheimer even there in 1917! i'm guessing it was a dirt road at that point? Everyone enjoyed it we will be back.
